About Us

In September, several local high school graduates will head off to college in possession of a scholarship award from the Cape Cod Association, and it’s highly likely that not one of them will have the remotest idea what the Association is or where its money came from.

They won’t know that their good fortune is the direct result of homesickness. They won’t know that an assortment of transplanted Cape Codders, yearning for sociability and talk of this narrow land, decided to unite.

They won’t know that those men signed a constitution written to encourage – among other things “temperance, sincerity and generous sentiments.” And they won’t know that it all happened nearly 150 years ago.
